“Understanding the difference between healthy striving and perfectionism is critical to laying down the shield and picking up your life. Research shows that perfectionism hampers success. In fact, it’s often the path to depression, anxiety, addiction, and life paralysis.”

– Brené Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection

“I just wanna walk through my life unarmed…”

-Ani DiFranco, Angry Anymore

My friend, this one is deep. Perfectionism plagued me for a lot of my life, and it still rears its judgy head and tries to boss me around and keep me from taking risks. I’ve done a lot of work to free myself from it, and it has made a HUGE difference for me. I’m better in my relationships, I’m more aligned in my work, I follow my creative pursuits more readily, and I am MUCH happier. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows all the time, but is it better? Definitely.

That’s why I’m so excited to share this conversation with you. You deserve this freedom too.

  • where perfectionism comes from
  • how to spot it when you’ve got it
  • the magic of embracing imperfection
  • baby steps to start overcoming perfectionism

Kelly shares powerful insights about her own journey as a recovering perfectionist, and how parenting her son (who is on the spectrum) required that she loved and accepted herself just as she is.

She says, “If I didn’t figure out how to love myself, I was not going to be able to figure out how to be his mom in the way that I was meant to be his mom.” Powerful stuff!
